I'm not sure I agree with you. I believe that the Bush-Cheney calculation is to send a huge buildup to the Middle East in order to create a fait accompli. Once the expeditionary force is in place and bristling, there is no way to go but forward. Retreat will be politically impossible for the Bushies. They are counting on the inexorability of their mad scheme. Keep in mind that the attack has nothing to do with any of the idiot rhetoric we're forced to endure ad nauseum. This is all about imperial conquest.
