<<What next? MeccaDonald's??>>

The Islamic version of Coca-Cola is conquering Middle East markets. Launched by Mecca-Cola Beverage Company sold 2.2 million bottles in less than two months.

The company was founded by Tawfik Mathluthi, a franc-Tunisian, who, in 1987, founded Radio Arab World. Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Jordan plus Libya, already agreed to distribute the product says Mathluthi.

Mecca-Cola intends to be a foundation says Mathluthi, who considers himself an "admirer" of the US.

A Mecca-Cola is product with a social conscience, it gives 20% of profits to charity. Being 10% to Palestinian strictly social services like infants protection, education and conserving historical buildings; explains the company's founder.

"The other 10% will be given to associations in Europe that works for the peace in the world and that supports the Palestinian people on their fight for self determination and independency. The bottle mentions these distributions of profits and, pokes fun at Coke, saying Mecca-Cola consumers to not to drink like an idiot. "Drink with dignity"

The mosque of Al-Qods (Jerusalem), the third most sacred place of Islam, appears on the label of the product. The inventor inspiration was Zamzam-Cola, the Iranian version which had great success in the Arab world, whose population are increasing the boycott to US related products. Prompted by this success of Mecca-Cola, Mathluthi dreams of producing 200 million bottles until the end of this year and he intends to launch o "Halal Fried Chicken" an Islamic version of Kentucky Friend Chicken" and a new drink "Mecca-Cola-Cafe"
