I had to pay to get someone to take my old tires and batteries.

More research needs to be done on End of Life Management (It's not an HMO). It would help a lot if large sections, such as cases, could be reused. Currently they change the screw holes and openenings just enough that a case cannot be upgraded instead of junked and replaced.

But no problems seen yet, BTW. Minimal publicity, however, and I've no idea if it's been properly enacted in UK.

But I don't think anyone's willing to go through the capex of setting up large-scale independent recyclers, for cars or computers, at least in UK (and presumably likewise US?) while the ROI is still relatively low, unless there's some incentive like maybe tax advantages or even temporary subsidy. Once the raw materials get scarcer, or the pollution problem starts really ramping, the facilities will be needed in a hurry... maybe they'll just be shipped to those nations which have invested?
