That is human nature. Honesty, discipline, hard work can overcome those prejudices. Yes, that's true....all humans have some negative tapes to a varying degree, acquired courtesy of parents and playmates while growing up. These tapes tell you you're not tall enough, smart enough, athletic enough, etc. Racism adds an overlay on top of those negative tapes and adds to the burden carried by minorities in this society. Can it be overcome? Of course, it can but it takes the exceptional person to do it and it gets easier with each passing generation. There will be a lot more C.Rices and C.Powells in the current generation. As the number increases, the need for AA will decrease until there will be no more need. The school work of the brown eyes began to improve while that of the lighter eyes began to suffer and worsen. The actions of the brown eyes dealing with the blue eyes was disgusting to watch......they were condescending, demeaning and bullying. Your example is interesting, as it proves that prejudices, not racism per say, is the root of problems. What has a childs eye color have to do with race necessarily. The same goes for short people, and fat people; neither of whom are associated with one race, but who suffer from prejudices. In my business, I am looking for people who are physically capable of doing the job, which means not too fat, and of a minimun stature so as to have the strength to do the job. So, I have my prejudices, however color isn't one of them. Of course it has to do with prejudices.....that's what's at the root of racism.Lots of words that say little......again explain to me how someone can be better educated and get less pay than a white person? Sure., Senority, experience, property and interest income, inheritance etc . While they aren't there yet' Eventually, the Asians will have all of them, and will out earn the whites on average. Ten yrs from now, we will be yelling at Tench about how they use their leadership positions to discriminate against us whites, when in fact it is from us not teaching our children the basic values of discipline and hard work. We are dumbing down our schools to accommodate the lazy, accepting mediocrity instead of striving for excellence. It will cost us. More words that skirt the truth.Either admit that's its racism, genderism etc, or explain to me how white men are better and therefore, should command higher salaries than their minority/women counterparts <g> Oh Jezz I am hardly a socialogist, however I will say that in ten yrs, we will be wondering why other groups are discriminating against us whites. It always happens, the ones on the bottom try harder, and eventually surpass you. Instead of worrying about how to dumb down the UM programs to accept minorities, we should be thinking about how to sharpen our intelligence, to compete with the Chineese, Indians etc. They seem to have the will, and where there is a will, there is a way. Still more words that skirt the truth. ted
