Moving this discussion over to the Big Board. Carrier Watch, Day Three: the Australian Age is reporting that Japanese news sources are reporting that the Kitty Hawk has been ordered to sea to remain off the coast of Japan and monitor the Korean peninsula.

>>Strains in the nuclear stand-off between the US and North Korea increased yesterday, with the US deploying an aircraft carrier from Japan and a senior Washington envoy warning that "all options" are available to deal with the conflict.

The day after it was revealed that Japan was drawing up plans to evacuate its nationals if war threatened on the Korean peninsula, the USS Kitty Hawk left its home port of Yokosuka.

Quoting navy sources, Japan's Kyodo news service said the Kitty Hawk was being deployed to stand off Japan and monitor the Korean peninsula. A spokesman for the Seventh Fleet, of which the Kitty Hawk is a part, said the carrier was deployed yesterday to conduct "routine carrier qualifications at sea".<<

This does complicate matters somewhat, and provides some support for my speculation that we've been shuffling some goodies for Korea into the deck we're getting ready to deal.
