The IMF generally tells 3rd world countries what to do and the prescription usually hurts that country and benefits US financial interests. However, if the shoe winds up on the other foot, we will do what works best for financial interests at home even if it's at the expense of everyone else (again). Good deal if you are a partner at a major US financial firm. Not so good when the rest of the world slowly starts figuring out the scam.
