No, the levels stayed high for some time. The criticisms of the US campaign were not indicative of a decline in the levels

Sympathy that is audible only on condition that the US doesn't actually do anything is of dubious value to anybody.

The Sharon government considers serious criticism of its policies to be anti-Israeli and trots out the anti-Semite flag.

Well, he's getting plenty of criticism inside Israel and he hasn't tried it there. I understand you feel that Sharon has no right to be upset with Chris Patten, just because the EU continues to give Arafat $50 million a month while turning a blind eye towards massive corruption and proven funding of terror - that this is just 'trotting out the anti-Semitic flag'. But Sharon has a primary responsibility to protect the lives of Israeli citizens - just as Bush does for American citizens. Neither man will undertake policies that he thinks further endanger them just to please Eurocrat sensibilities.
