There is also the clutter problem, if you do a lot of internet surfing. True you can take care of this problem manually, but I'd rather have the computer take care of its own housekeeping. So I use CyberScrub with a shutdown manager. That way turning the machine on/off keeps things ship shape. To each their own.

Mish, I was more or less addressing an issue that surfaced in the news a week ago about personal information on a hard drive.

If you have something you want completely gone on a hard drive, you need to overwrite it 36-times for it to be non-recoverable. I agree that only people perpetuating fraud or crime would probably need to be concerned about this.
