DEMONSTRATION DOWNSIDE

You can be sure that Saddam's bootlickers ran to him with the story and pictures of these weekend demos and said, "You can hold out, the American people are rising up to stop Bush!"

No way to stop this reaction. Does it justify trying to stop demos? No. But if you take part, you should understand the downside of what you are doing.

Hi Nadine,

re: "Ramsey Clark may have been a good attorney general way back when, and might have made a good senator, but he took a wrong turn somewhere and his political analysis is now about on par with that of Alexander Cockburn or Andrew Sullivan."

Do you read Andrew Sullivan much? I looked up Ramsey Clark on Google and got the impression the man has had some unfathomable life experience that I could never relate to to get him to where he is now. (I think he's gone nuts.)

On the other hand, I read your post of Andrew Sullivan's article in Message 18465266 and thought he was pretty reasonable.

That's why I wondered what Eric Alterman was trying to point out when he compared the two. Was that article you posted earlier a fair representation of Sullivan?
