Unlike the backstabbing Arab nations, America has a true friend and ally in the Middle East, Israel,

Oh Robert... I don't like to get that mushy about the US-Israeli relationship. Israel is a nation with it's own self-interests. And not all of them coincide with those of the US like they currently do.

So I like to make sure that Americans don't get too tied at the hip with Israel.. We don't want to lose all sense of objectivity in the region and as Wolfowitz has stated, we're going to spend some quality time on solving the Palestinian issue once Saddam is out of the way.

And that's not likely to go over well with some of the Israeli right-wing factions.

Make no mistake about it, where Israel's interests diverge from the US, they won't permit the US to interfere for long. One example of this is where the Israeli Mossad director is apparently authorizing covert "asassinations" on US soil against Islamic militants. That ain't going to go over well..
