Steve....it looks like they pulled the other deal...no free CD-writer and they bumped the price back up $100. When they were offering the $100 off with the CD-RW, the lack of speakers would have been of little consequence...the basic speakers that Dell includes with their systems are easily replaceable with a low cost set on sale at best buy...staples..office max..target etc. If you like to listen to music on your pc there are a lot of choices that include a subwoofer (3 piece). Decent speakers can make a noticable difference. forums.anandtech.com Yes... the deal with the monitor now looks like the better deal. The only reason I suggested the other deal is 2.4 Ghz and the Dimension 4500 is a slight step up from the 2350. But the free LCD monitor deal is a good one...if you don't like the monitor you can probably ebay it and get a good portion of the total price of the system back.<g> If you're not in a big hurry Dell deals change every other day ...practically. I don't have a laptop...there are others on the thread who do and can possibly make suggestions.
