From what i saw this weekend, many good folks attended and mostly leftists of questionable ideology performed on stage along with the usual Hollywood types. Some of those leftists may root for an american defeat. Lets not be naive about this point.

Mike, you seem to be a pretty good, well meaning guy. Are you trying to argue that to be a socialist, to be a Muslim, to be opposed to an invasion of Iraq (note, I'm dropping here my usual proviso of unilateral invasion, since that more nearly expresses my view), to have come to the conclusion that world wide capitalist growth is not the best thing since whatever, are you arguing that's anti-American?

Surely not.

I do. Nobody should worry about suppression of dissent; the major newspapers were careful to make the demonstrations sound more moderate than they did. The newspapers noted that they "were organized by ANSWER". Full stop. No more information about ANSWER's program. As Andrew Sullivan asked, if there was a massive gay-rights demonstration organizedy by NAMBLA, the pro-pediphila organization, don't you think someone might have mentioned it?
