Not at all John. I am arguing that the agenda of a few of these folks at this meeting is to bring down the US by any means available. This is not the MO of socialists or moslems but is for communists and Islamic radicals who sometimes take cover with the former.

Would you point out which folk at the meeting had an agenda to "bring down the US by any means available," as opposed to expressing dissent and having an out-of-the-mainstream view of the American polity or economy? Please. To worry about "communists" in this day and age is beyond weak, Mike. As for Islamic radicals, which I gather is your substitute for "terrorists," give me a break.

During the sixties many varieties of leftists tried to take over the civil rights movement and the anti war movement. Thank God they failed.

Last time I checked, they completely succeeded. Unless you've got a different notion of what the American left did during the sixties. I was there and definitely did those things. And we defined the American left in the 60s. We were the left. We rode the busses in the south; registered voters in Mississippi; sat in at lunch counters in both the south and the north; picketed northern stores that had southern branches that discriminated; organized protests against the war; campaigned for Eugene McCarthy and Bobby Kennedy; made a mistake by not doing likewise for Hubert Humphrey. And we campaigned for McGovern. And the country got Nixon. Not a bad track record at all.

If you mean some of the crazies who actually took over the SDS in the late 60s and early 70s, that's a different story. You have those crazies on the left and right.
