Let's see - you've already convicted Ritter of personal misconduct on a "sting" operation and salacious rumor, so that you can refuse to examine any defense-related claims... It would seem there would be better reasons to disregard the defense claims, since the consequences of mass deaths and nuclear strike might be just a bit more significant... If someone told you that you should duck because there was a gun pointed at your head in a dark alley, would you ask if there were any rumors about their sex life? I don't think so. I think you'd want to pay more attention to the dire consequences of not getting shot...
