Note that US soldier was killed in Kuwait today. I'm afraid that thousands will meet a similar fate (not to speak of tens of thousands of Iraqis) if Bush is stupid enough to invade. Contrary to the Bushie lies most Iraqis seem hate the US a lot more than they do Saddam. It is the US imposed sanctions that have destroyed their economy and sent hundreds of thousands to early deaths from starvation, disease and lack of sanitation.

Not so sure about France and Germany when push comes to shove, but I would bet (hell... HAVE bet) that Turkey will lean back and open her legs.

Not to bore anyone with the details, but Turkey's current economic situation (i.e. bordering on disaster) needs continued friendship with the IMF and the US.

For now, the government is organizing peace talks etc so that they can later turn back to their people and say "See? We did all we could".

Another reason they are not declaring support for the US at this point is so that they will not be unnecessarily exposed in the Muslim community (which pretty much hates them anyway for not being "Muslim enough") in the offchance that the US decides not to have a war.
