Not out here in NE, on SFR you could have made 3-4X if you timed it right, but the window of opportunity was very narrow. Condos were definately sitting on the market longer and could be had cheaper. I know one in Portsmouth, NH area he sold for over 12X what he paid at auction...

The other advantage was the leverage, buying more properties, but of course more expenses.
