To apologize originally meant to explain - the meaning has changed over the years to mean you are saying you are sorry. It did not originate with that meaning - to apologize meant to give a legitimate reason without implying any blame to one's self. You have use the modern meaning for Apologize and misapplied it to the word Apologetics. The branch of theology known as "apologetics" means to explain and/or give reason for. Not to be sorry about.
