Cell ops--Mobile to Mobile Incoming Calls Made Free
Wednesday, January 22, 2003

Cellular operators have decided to offer mobile to mobile incoming calls free across the country. This was stated by ten cellular firms in a joint statement on Tuesday. The decision would benefit both prepaid as well as post-paid subscribers and individual operators will announce their launch dates separately. In Delhi, this facility is expected to be introduced in a week.

BSNL and MTNL, however, are not part of this announcement. With this cellular tariffs have moved a notch closer to WLL tariff, considering that free incoming is their greatest USP. But WLL operators have an upper hand as they offer free incoming calls even if they originate from from landline phones .
