Winston, a Middle East analyst & commentator Reports indicate that King Abdullah Hussein of Jordan is backing out of allowing American troops to base in Jordan or to allow American planes to fly over Jordan. This subverts U.S. plans for two of her fronts in her war against Iraq. Now we know that Syria or Iran will not assist America. We know that Saudi Arabia has been funding terrorists, including Yassir Arafat, for a long time. 15 of the 9/11 terrorists were Saudis. We know that France and U.N. do not support America against Iraq. I am reasonably certain that, when pressed, we will find that our "friend" Egypt will not come through for the America who has funded the Egyptian army with at lease $48 Billion of American tax-payers’ funds. Four of the 9/11 terrorists were Egyptians. America does have one reliable friend in the Middle East, albeit a small country, Israel. The simple fact is that none of the others are democracies nor do they look up to America. We Americans are learning a hard lesson which is that we have few friends and numerous enemies. Even the Europeans we pulled out of a couple of wars have little love and much contempt for America. Granted, they want our assistance, our funding, our paying for and supplying NATO but, they really look own at us. We cannot count on them for back up, particularly if we must face down Arab Muslim nations. They view Arab Muslims not as adversaries but, rather as marketplaces for their goods, weapons and oil. For the Europeans, Iran - Syria - Iraq - Libya, regardless of their support for terrorists or development of WMD (Weapons of Mass Death) are viewed as essential and very lucrative markets We Americans are discovering something: we have few accountable friends. We have trading partners, we have adversaries, we have few allies that are reliable. England is one; Israel is another; Canada, perhaps - but I cannot name any of the Europeans and not one of the Arab countries. Can you? As a Super-Power, we Americans are envied, hated, mistrusted and feared. So fellow Americans (and particularly President Bush), know that we go it alone or drag a few others along for show. If we have to make do with England and Israel as our only reliable allies, so be it. As for Jordan - use the bases in Israel and just fly over Jordan without their permission. P.S. Having re-discovered that we cannot rely upon the Arabs, the Europeans, the United Nations, the Russians - why then are we delivering Israel’s sovereignty and security up through the "Quartet" and the Bush "Road Map"to these same untrustworthy nations? ### From: Marion Dreyfus: Sat, 11 Jan 2003 08:20:36 dreyfusmarion@XXXXmail.com Another indication the US is confused (and self-destructive) AMERICANS, REMEMBER REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993, REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the Marine Barracks in Lebanon, REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the military Barracks in Saudi Arabia, REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the American Embassies in Africa, REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the USS COLE.
