I don't think I agree with that T.P. Perhaps randomness could work forward although I'm not even sure if that is actually possible. In a closed system of cause and effect we have an actual path that can be followed back precisely to the beginning of the universe. If that's the case then I don't see why there should be a different expectation with regards to any "primordial source". Of course you can always posit a different set of parameters for such a source but the need to do so seems to be be driven more by the need to explain things in a way that avoids the obvious conclusion of a definite source of all things rather than by any data.
