I don't think you will see a whole lot of exercising to hold in silicon valley in the foreseeable future.

AMEN! I exercised, held, sold (still well above my exercise price) when the AMT exposure was greater than the value of my holdings, and bought back. Then I learned that the IRS has funny rules about when a profitable sale is actually a wash sale. ISO wash sale is THE most unfair rule in the tax law.

Lol.. I bet that's a fact! Our company used to guarantee us a certain percentage for exactly a year after purchase. Was a pretty good deal really.
