It's slightly off the topic, but I was referring to the idea that we cannot experience the past, we can only experience how we (and our universe) is now. Each memory, fossil, pathway, or compound is a reflection of something that happened when that time too was the present. In some primordial meta-universe beyond the time and space of this one, the past may be regaining it's randomness while we, in our moving instance of now retain only a snapshot.
