I am writing an article now on what I call the 5 tectonic forces shaping the competitive landscape today. Stealing gleefully from Huntington, I call one these forces "The Clash of Institutions". My problem with the UN is that it is the lynchpin of the old system on institutions and thus the source of inertia. BTW, I consider OBL and Al Qaeda as an exemplar of a new form of institution - a pseudo-nation based on ideas not geography. We will need to evolve some form of global governance where the idea of self-interest exists at a higher order than the cumulative self-interests of the members. Paul
