Nobody will arrest you for copying music that is broadcast. . .whether on the radio, TV, or other such media. But when you place your entire discography on the internet for download by anyone who so desires, you become a distributor of that music. And that is illegal. I believe there will be lots of scare tactic involved. I doubt that anyone will serve hard time for helping themselves to "The Thong Song".
