Has the VCR impacted salaries & wages in the move / TV industry?

I doubt it. . . In fact, I think their salaries & wages have been going up as usual.
Why?
Because when a movie is shown, it gets paid for by advertising, etc. to make up for any other losses.
Advertising goes up, their products go up, we buy them, thus paying for the movies we record with our VCR's, etc.
Right?

Doesn't the same thing happen with music?

New subject:
There is one thing I don't understand & that is how movies are rated for success, etc.
It's always based on the $$$ it makes. .. Now, that is just plain dumb!
Doesn't anyone know that movie prices have been going up up and up year after year?
A half-ass movie could easily break some old movie. And they make a big deal out of some movie breaking a record set by "Gone with the Wind"?

Why don't they do it the accurate way by just comparing the total number of paid tickets (viewers) sold?
That would be a much more fair way to compare. Yes?

They probably don't even keep track of that! Just the almighty dollar.

OK, I'm off my box. . .

Joe

That is the way composers, songwriters, producers and the like within the music industry feel. Piracy cuts into their bottom line, making things so bad for some that it is no longer a means to making a living.

Rande:

I've been searching, but I can't find the link. A popular songwriter wrote an editorial saying she and others were all in favor of people downloading their music, because it opened up a whole new market of people who may not have heard them otherwise. She said she was also selling more merchandise off her website and attendance at concerts was up.

The singers and songwriters only get pennies off each CD sold anyway.

I'm still looking for the article.

Regards,

BobP

P.S. From someone who has never downloaded a song.......
