Poor diets, lack of exercise, homes that are more air tight to save on heating and cooling but which can keep mold, radon, pet dander, dust ect. inside in the air, better diagnosis... Increased stress! As adult pressures increase so do those of children. Children's lives have definitly become more stable. They have? Both parents working, divorce at high rates, increased pressures to excell at school, crime and pollution etc. How have those things lent stability to the lives of kids? My friends had a seven year old boy and 8 year old girl when they split up. The boy got into serious trouble emotionally.....we now conclude he had a kind of breakdown. And his parents hadn't even noticed. Kids have much weaker coping skills than adults. The only reason we don't know they are in such serious trouble emotionally is because they have much weaker verbal skils as well. Also while adults don't really work more hours more of them work. You have more two income familes also trying to take care of the kids or go see them at the school play or run them to a soccer game or whatever. In the past the kids's activites where less structured (causeing less stress on the kids and the parents) and it was more likely that one parent (usually the mom) would stay at home. Exactly.Another reason for more of some ailments, particuarly cancer and heart disease is that we live longer now. We don't die of other things before we get these problems. The diseases I am talking about are hitting kids the hardest. The asthma support group I post on has people ranging in age from 18 to 70.....more younger than older. ted Enter symbols or keywords for search: QuotesStock TalkChartsNewsPeople Symbol Lookup Subject Titles Only Full Text Go to Top Terms of Use
