When they say that the 27 million MSM chips are "fully booked" are they merely stating that the previous forecast of 27 million has been reached, and they might not be telling us more chips will/could be manufactured and sold?

Or, are they telling us they've booked the 27 million and that's it for the quarter?

the March quarter was “fully” booked

In the way they have generally meant it, they have firm orders for all of what they are projecting. Assuming they have capacity to produce at least 29MM chips (based on the December quarter's chip shipments), there should be a bit of upside.

However, they did say they were looking to increase production capacity in case orders come in strong in Q3 & Q4. What I wonder is just what their current production capacity is?

As an aside, one of the reasons I felt confident that QCOM would beat their numbers handily was IBM's earnings report. In it they said that their chip business made money in the past quarter (I guess it had been running at a loss for some amount of time). Since IBM is the biggest QCOM foundry, I surmised that QCOM's business was in part responsible for IBM's good chip fortunes.
