It's funny because NZ was first to be really against weapons of mass destruction in a substantial political way. The USA, France and Britain wanted to squash the idea. The idea then of being anti-nuke was NOT popular in the MAD world. It was important to stop the idea catching on. Sinking the Rainbow Warrior was part of the message and I believe there was some complicity on the part of the main Nato gangsters.

With the current concerns, I would not be surprised to find a more global attitude to ridding the world of weapons of mass destruction, including the Force de Frappe, even though nukes don't kill people, people kill people and the right to bear arms should not be abridged.
