Not much explanation on Cingular's performance...

They attributed the customer loss to increased competition and the loss of some WorldCom subscribers. I think the situation is even worse than the top line number looks.....the churn was actually better than expected at 2.7%.

This means that gross adds were absolutely terrible.

They were asked how they thought they could turn Cingular around....their was nothing specific in the answer. They talked a little bit about the technology transition and even mentioned a better performance in '04.

To me....that means they are screwed for much of '03.

This is going to be a real problem for both BLS and SBC. They are seeing accelerating losses in their wireline division without the offsetting strength in wireless that Verizon is seeing.

I think most of the operators report next week....hopefully, we will see some differentiation between the 1x and GSM providers.
