Huh?!? Pardon me, but France and Germany are the principals... they run the show both economically and financially. What? Does the US intend to rely on Poland, Transmoldavia, and Bielomoravia instead of France and Germany?? LOL... The so-called "new Europe" praised by Rumsfeld is anxiously waiting for the fat, EU-stamped subsidies from the EU --that is, from Germany and France. Central Europe's elites are dreaming of a job inside a EU Directorate-General in Brussels or as a local manager for the subsidiary of a German bank/firm... They don't dream of running a McDonald's in front of the local US military barracks! Soon they'll get paid in euros (instead of zlotys and whatnot) not in dollars.

That's right, NATO is an anachronism or, as I put it, a modern version of the ill-fated Maginot Line....
