Seems my guess is in line with Acampora's speculation in the following point:

<Gurus: War Could Send Stocks to Oct Lows.> Gurus know twit about PPT, don't be at all surprised to see market rally hard.Look at the 1991 chart for a comparison as it shows it rallying off lows hard just hours before the first bombs were dropped on 1/16/1991, and on 1/17/1991 there was a huge gap up that crushed the bones of shorts and the market never looked back.
Never underestimate PPT. Max
