I meant that the Kosovo war was essentially a US operation.

I prefer Europe to err being too cautious rather than setting off another world war.

The anti-US attitudes in Europe come largely from US being world cop.

There is no anti-US attitude. There is a disagreement how the current US government approaches a number of topics.

This would not always be necessary if other nations would shoulder some military responsibility.

Germany is the second biggest contributor to international peacekeeping missions.

What if US follows French/German lead and does not intervene in Iraq and worst case scenario happens there.

Pakistan and North Korea are far more dangerous potential proliferators of nuclear weapons.

European will be far more hurt by oil blackmail than the US but they will not have the means to protect themselves or preventing this from happening.

Germany has reduced its dependency on OPEC oil considerably. #reply-17436220

Perhaps you could enlighten me on the state of the French and German military, apart from NATO. Could they deploy to Iraq and if so would they be sure winners?

According to the imperatives of the Allies (USA/GB/F/SU) the German army has been designed to be a defensive one. Its maximum extent is to operate within NATO boundaries.

How modern are their armies?

German arms sell well around the world (which is nothing to be proud of).
