"WMD is a smokescreen -...." yes, a smoke screen to gain control of oil. " Noel, This response is about as wrong as Johns implying that wmds dont matter its all about imposing democracy on iraq and spreading it thru mideast. Both oil and democracy are part of the picture. Reasons for military action flow from WMDs which give saddam control of the region(and its oil) and prevents the region from moving to moderation, economic progress and human freedom(and democracy when it applies). Its far less simple that saying its about oil. Gulf war was more about oil but there too, it was far more about the principle of not allowing one nation state to conquer another in the modern world. Oil was a subset of that. mike
