i'd steer clear of DUK, on any sort of intermediate-to-long-term basis. the dividend does not look safe to me. (no, i am not short that one)

that industry is an amazing testament to the terrible excesses brought on by the combination of below market interest rates and regulatory protection -- those guys ought to still be making money -- they are in a declining cost industry for goodness sake!! -- prices for LD have not dropped that much.
