your analysis falls apart due the fact that gays/ lesbian call themselves queer.

jews do not call themselves the k word, and blacks with the exception of comedians like chris rock do not call themselves the n word...we are talking about public discourse here.

if it is hate speech to use the word queer in addressing homosexuals then there are very large number of gays and lesbians guilty of that very "crime"...do a quick google search and see how many legitimate gay and lesbian organization use the word "queer" in their name...you certainly do not see that with blacks or jews.

and i really don't think what your definition of hate speech is...is relevant...

what is relevant is SI... and what words are considered verboten...that is why i say put up a list...

how about a list with subdivisions...

i can say "this is a queer situation"

or if i am gay i can say..

"i'm here, i'm queer, get used to it..

but apparently

"you are a peace queer" is forbidden.

so queers can say queer in the context of orientation..but non-queers cannot.

what if a queer in favor of the war in iraq calls another queer a "peace queer"

is that ok? does that post stay up?
