I had checked the box that says "Do not allow attachment that could potentially be a virus" or words to that effect in OE under security.. However, the net result of that was that OE would not let me open any attachment that came with mail, whether it was word doc. or photo or what have you.. So I had to uncheck the box..

My OE conforms to all that you have cited. : )
