Talk a walk, a deep breath, do something.

Hello John,
I have fond memories of our long past discussions.
I took a long walk and many deep breaths.

I take it from the fact that your only comments are to me, that you accept the whining and disparaging remarks made here against individual United States military members and the quality their military service.

Even though you never served, I thought you might get my real point.

The issue is condemning the honorable service of an individual. Those who never served are not qualified to do it (Yes, I really mean that. I doubt you think I am qualified to judge your contribution as a professor.). Those who have served understand the sacrifices that every serviceman and servicewoman makes and would never criticize another's honorable service.

It is an outrageous and egregious wrong. I won't stand idly by and listen to it...anywhere.

The first sentence of the Constitution, as I quoted, clearly says that this nation was founded to, "provide for the common Defense ... and secure the Blessings of Liberty." Every serviceman and servicewoman takes an oath to protect and defend that Constitution. Every American citizen has a responsibility to support the individual soldier (and fighter pilots, and cooks and clerks too) and his sacrifices no matter how great or how small.

Individual American Military Service is not a ratings game to be played out by the unknowing and inexperienced.

It is long past time for those who have enjoyed the greatness of America and never gave back to at least support and respect each and every one of those who have given or are giving.

John you just wrote about 1968. Spitting on American servicemen was popular in 68. And it was endured. Those days are over. It will no longer be tolerated anywhere.

Dissent all you want folks...But respect each individual who defends America because without them the free speech, you so loudly proclaim to be your right, will go away.
