KLA-Tencor sees Q3 EPS 12 cents, sales 300 mln usd

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan 23, 2003 (AFX-Asia via COMTEX) -- KLA-Tencor Corp expects to report third-quarter earnings of 12 cents a share, on sales of 300 mln usd, chief financial officer John Kispert said.

Orders in the quarter are expected to be the same as that in the second quarter, Kispert said during a conference call.

The chip equipment maker continues to have a strong shippable backlog over the next six months, Kispert added. KLA Tencor exited the second quarter with 460 mln usd in back log orders.

"The current market environment, although improving, is difficult and visibility is limited," Kispert said.

"Looking forward, we continue to be cautious about a sizable, strong, sustained recovery," said Kispert.

According to the consensus estimates of First Call/Thomson Financial, the chip equipment maker is expected to report third quarter EPS of 11 cents, on sales of 306.73 mln.

KLA-Tencor reported second quarter EPS of 15 cents a share on sales of 335 mln usd. The Wall Street consensus was for second quarter EPS of 14 cents, on sales of 335.74 mln.
