Yes, the old coins are really interesting. I love the big silver pieces that were widely circulated, like the French 5 Franc and the British Crown (5 shillings). I just can't believe how cheap world gold coins are right now.

It sounds like you are saying that the advantage of the new stuff is that it is more liquid. I have a feeling that the old coins will increase in liquidity as the interest in gold and silver picks up. Old sovereigns and 20 Franc Swiss and French pieces are already easy to buy and sell.
