I am using MS Outlook 2000 and Win XP. I have checked the advanced options in email to notify me with a sound.wav file, but but it does not work. On my computer running Win 98, the sound come through just fine. Anyone have any ideas?

Your computers will connect to the router via Cat 5 cables. If your computer has what looks like a phone jack on the back, that is the NIC (Network Interface Card). Yes, you can buy them and install them if one isn't present.

Lar ..

--->do we have a choice of running either co-axial cable or USB cable out of the router?

Cat5

--->Does a computer have to have an ethernet card

yes

--->does a USB connection suffice

no

---> If I have to install an ethernet card into one of the older computers, can i just pop it in and have plug and play set it up.

maybe, but it will be best to have the correct driver on hand *(floppy, cd, downloaded to hd, etc)

--->How can i tell if a computer has an ethernet card? Do I look for the bigger phone jack on the back, is there a way i can go into Control Panel and find out?

yes -- yes -- AND a verrrrry valuable website, from which I print a hard copy of the results and keep inside the case, will identify nearly everything inside, even by serial numbers in some cases, as well as software installed ...

it is really amazing ...
