And once things are said, I don't think apologies really matter all that much. What is important, is what happens in the future. Even the most insincere person can give a good apology. In fact often THE most insincere person gives a GREAT apology. Like Clinton. He was GREAT at apologizing- but he didn't really mean any of it (imo). Not that this makes him evil, but it certainly makes his apologies worthless.
