When nixon went to china he too met with committed communists whose interests led them to detente with the US. North Vietnam was a murderous regime like that of china, but it was nationalist too. After the French were kicked out, there had to be a better way than a 10 year war that led us to defeat and all those dead. When i look at the current Korean situation, i think about our vietnam experience. When i think of iraq, i am not as worried. mike

Yeah, we have re-fought most of the 20th Century wars here a few times. Generate a lot of heat, but not much light.
