No, oil is never the goal for the war in the first place.

If we think for a minute: Why would U.S. want to take such huge losses and great risks in order to get the Iraq oil through war and invasion (the major risks and consequences were summarized in my post #3268)? Is the U.S. short of oil or short of oil to that degree? Never. Is Bush that kind of stupid? Not likely. The key is who's behind the war plan. What kind of people are actually yelling the loudest the U.S. should start the war (of course, under the names of "disarming WMDs" or "liberation" of Iraq"), Do those people care about the danger and consequences the U.S. is facing at all should the war starts? BTW.
