Very nice post , MIchael. Thank you for the sentiment.

I was feeling mean and you softened my edges.

Somehow, I am still optomistic about the goals you state in your post.

I think things are so extreme right now that many are learning more about world affairs and personal flaws then ever. And that is a good thing. We have been living in a shadow world where we enjoyed the violent movies because they were like the fairy tales of our childhood. They are not as much fun as they used to be.

The in-your-face problems we all now face are bringing a new belief system, a new basis of shared understanding
for many of us.

I still believe in the goodness of people and hope someday we will all enjoy a beer and and a scary movie again.

<<disable all wmds everywhere>>

We opened Pandora's Box in 1945, and those demons won't go back in the Box, ever.

In the 20th Century, about 100,000,000 people died in wars. In order to avoid taking out that record in the 21st Century, we have to decrease the rate at which we kill each other to less than a million a year (83,000/month, 2700/day, roughly 100/hour).
