Ted, <statistic after statistic shows you that the rich keep getting richer and you're worried that that the rich might not get a well deserved [in your opinion] tax break.>

I'm not falling for that nonsense.

Huh? Are you afraid that if its true, you may have to fight in the revolution? ;~))

Like I said before, I don't care if the rich get a tax break or not. In fact, if it forces government to be more fiscally responsible, then so be it.

How does one follow the other? If you want better gov't, you have to demand it. Giving a tax break to the rich only benefits the rich.

My point about the "wealth tax" is that the income tax is all about taxing the accumulation of wealth, not the wealth itself. If you want to screw over the rich, tax their wealth, not their income. Income is the very vehicle that makes poor people rich, especially those who just graduated college with a load of debt and landed successful jobs. (I'm speaking from self-interest here, but I hope you understand.)

A wealth tax can screw you too. You can be a millionaire on paper and still be very middle class in terms of day to day income and living style.

And in the end, realize that I'm not arguing for a wealth tax. I'm arguing against this mentality of "screw the rich," because often it punishes the honest, while the crooks still get away with their millions.

I am not saying that they should be screwed but they need to pay their fair share and be happy about it. They live in the land of the free and the almighty dollar, and that has helped them become very rich.
