but America did, in a couple of months, what Russia failed to do in 10 years. Nonsense, The Soviet Union had a stable puppet government installed and the country pacified within 3 months of their 1979 invasion. They then went on to gain the support of the people by building roads, bridges, and schools. Sound familiar? Of course about a year later the growing ranks of Mujahadeen began an ever increasing series of attacks on the superpower. After 10 years of guerella warfare the Soviets had lost their moral and superpower status and fell apart as a country. It's a little early to be patting ourselves on the back for great achievements in Afganistan. The "HoChiMinn" and "Giap" of this conflict are still in the "Jungle". TP
