To: TheBusDriver who wrote (4477 ) 1/25/2003 3:52:36 PM From: marcos Respond to of 4504 Not so Wayne, i have no source of info on the place that is not public, never been near Tambogrande, i just make guesses from time to time based on what info is available to all, and with a few other places of relatively similar circumstances in mind ... also on some knowledge of the history of mining in that part of the hemisphere, and its resulting perception in the minds of the people Local politics is the dirtiest ... if you've ever tried to get the zoning restrictions changed on a piece of land, you'll understand the full weight of this maxim ... plenty of opportunity and motive for factional infighting, corruption, demagoguery etc And that's what man's mine is, a zoning change, one that effects hundreds of homes with thousands of people in them .... the mine can also be a rich source of funds that can benefit those people greatly, but to do so they must be presented with an offer that works for them, and then be convinced of its merit ... in the olden days, the army would just go in and clear the ground by whatever means necessary, but that is unacceptable behaviour for a canadian company, and has fallen out of favour as a method within Latinoamérica generally, which is good ... so anyway, i'm just waiting and watching with everybody else, don't know any more than you do, haven't been searching the peruano news lately either As for playing the stock, in the last few months i've looked at gaps more than anything ... thought it would close the august gap-down, it did, now lately i expected it to close the december gap-up, and it hasn't quite [then when it came real close, i wasn't watching, aargh] .... there's a major gap-down left from june anyway, so even if you believe in gap theory, you can regard all between as an island .. who knows It's just vitally important imho, that tambograndinos themselves come to a decision on their own fate, and in their own good time ... were i one of them, and present, i would likely be in favour of the mine, but i'd also be looking for the best possible deal for the town out of Manhattan, that is only logical and right, eh .... cheers
