Daschle is unpopular, people are looking for Bush-like policies (tort reform etc) without the "diplomacy" or lack-thereof skills. If Bush was not the republican candidate in 04, I suspect a republican will likely win. But with Bush as the candidate this backlash could put Kerry in there. The key is that the democratic competition is more of a Clinton democrat than a Daschle democrat- tax cuts etc. All I can hope for is that tort reform and this healthcare for seniors mess gets taken care of before dems get back in. The last thing we need is another huge entitlement with no means testing for seniors.
