They don't hope to get a Dem, they just hope to avoid confirming conservatives. Indefinitely? I would venture to say that's impossible. It is probably impossible to avoid confirming any conservatives forever but they want confirmed conservative judges to be as few and as far between as possible. Its too bad that the GOP has to look for a Machiavellian plot line rather than consider their nominee may not be a good one. He is far from the only conservative that the democrats have opposed and he appears to be a very good candidate. tim
