Because there was such a terrific gold boom/bust in living memory of many investors, I am skeptical of a repeat performance that takes gold up toward $800. But the tone that is rapidly developing does have the feel of incipient mania. I hope I have the discipline to steadily scale out of my gold holdings and not get tempted to re-enter at a higher level, should the big move continue. If gold gets past $400, it will make it profitable for producers to expand their mines and refineries as fast as they can, and with demand softening for other things, they ought to be able to get the necessary machinery and labor at decent prices.

Time to take a look at what Slider is saying, if anything; he must be in absolute hog heaven.
